• Students and teachers honored at the 2014 Salão Design Movelsul Brasil

  The Ava lamp, designed by Diego Chiola, a student in the Bachelor of Industrial Design program, won first prize in February 2014 in the “Student Division – Lighting Category” at Salão Design Movelsul Brasil 2014, a Latin American product design competition. Likewise, the Frans bench by Andrés Espina and Nicolás Noblia, students in the same program, won first prize in the “Student Division – Outdoor Furniture Category.” The exhibition of the winning entries and the awards ceremony took place from March 24 to 28, 2014, at the Parque de Eventos in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil).

  The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Universidad ORT Uruguay recently been accredited by AMBA (United Kingdom).
• The Fashion Design Graduates' Studio won First Prize for "Best Murga Costumes" at the 2014 Carnival

  The haute couture atelier Tissora, founded and directed by Florencia Sica and María Emilia Rodríguez, graduates of the Bachelor of Fashion Design program, won First Prize for "Best Murga Costumes" at the 2014 Carnival for the costumes designed for Momolandia. The results of the awards, presented by the Municipality of Montevideo, were announced on March 19, 2014.
• A faculty member received support from the Scientific Council of the PEDECIBA Chemistry program to complete an internship at Ruhr University Bochum

  Erienne Jackson, a research assistant at the Biotechnology Laboratory of the School of Engineering, received funding in March 2014 from the Scientific Council of the Basic Sciences Development Program (PEDECIBA) in Chemistry to undertake a two-month internship at Ruhr University Bochum (Germany). The internship will take place in July and August 2014.
