April 28, 2017In April 2017, the Hong Kong Ballet hired designer and costume designer Prof. Hugo Millán—who teaches the courses "Fashion Design 1" and "Fashion Design 2" in the Bachelor of Fashion Design program—to oversee the costume design for *Le Corsaire*, a production that premiered in Uruguay in 2014 and will be staged by the Hong Kong Ballet in October 2017.

April 28, 2017The "Fungi" collection by the design duo of Vivian Sulimovich and Florencia Gómez De Salazar, students in the Bachelor of Fashion Design program, won First Prize at the 11th edition of the 2017 Lúmina competition organized by Punta Carretas Shopping, as well as the People's Choice Award. The final fashion show took place on April 27, 2017, at the mall.

April 28, 2017Dr. Fernando Paganini, professor of Telecommunications Theory in the School of Engineering, was appointed a member of the Latin American Academy of Sciences (ACAL) in April 2017. ACAL was founded in 1982 by a group of scientific researchers from Latin America and the Caribbean. has members from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Scientists from Germany, the United States, and France also participate.
