Close interaction with academic staff
Our class sizes allow for close relationships between students and academic staff, fostering a high level of academic demand and quality education.

Diverse Student Community
With backgrounds in both public and private schooling across all regions of the country, our student body is socially and culturally diverse. This diversity enriches the educational process and contributes to students’ personal growth.
Every semester, ORT welcomes international exchange students, who add cultural and linguistic variety to the classroom. Likewise, ORT students returning from their exchange experiences abroad bring fresh, global perspectives to their peers.
Extensive libraries
Students and academic staff have access to two well-stocked libraries with more than 87,000 print volumes, 135 specialised periodicals and a film collection of over 3,500 titles.

Entrepreneurship Support and Industry Connections
In 2001, the university co-founded Ingenio, Uruguay’s first business incubator for IT and telecommunications, together with Laboratorio Tecnológico del Uruguay.
In 2007, the Faculty of Engineering launched Uruguay’s first pre-incubator for tech startups, fostering innovation through idea generation and the development of viable business plans.
We also created a dedicated office to strengthen university–industry relations, addressing real-world needs with knowledge generated within the university. From these initiatives emerged the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (CIE), which promotes innovation, entrepreneurship and strong connections between academia and the business sector.
CIE supports students, entrepreneurs and organisations by providing knowledge, development and innovation to various industries.
