For your Inclusive Project, Inés Areán chose ConectaGames, where she has been working as a graphic designer since June of last year.
ConectaGames develops traditional board games (such as Truco, Conga, Checkers, and Escoba del 15) for Facebook and mobile devices. Currently, the company operates in 13 countries and has user base of three million. “The goal is to expand to all countries where Facebook is available, reaching 10% of the population in each,” explains the student, who is in the final stages of her Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia Design.
“For this project, I am developing multimedia content that will help the company move toward its goals, bridging the gap between it and the leading entertainment companies in the market.”
With that goal in mind, the project consists of three components. First, a more interactive website optimized for mobile devices. “None of the best-known gaming companies have this yet,” notes the designer, adding that “the fact that it’s optimized for mobile devices is important because the company develops games for iPhone and iPad, so a large portion of the target audience consists of mobile users.” Second, a demo for potential advertisers: “The company is interested in placing advertising in its games in an original way: the company logo on the game board, on the backs of the cards, personalized virtual goods, and so on.” Finally, the design and development of the tarot game for mobile devices in AS3. “In this case, the innovation is that all the games the company currently has are developed in AS2, which limits them in many ways. At the same time, this would be the company’s first game developed for the Android operating system.”
Areán believes the project is viable, since “the idea is to implement the components we’ve developed, primarily the website and the game.” “The aspect of the project I’m working on is one of the things I like most about multimedia design: I believe the mobile market is booming, and there are many avenues left to explore.”
