On September 10, 2014, Universidad ORT Uruguay 9th edition of the Job Fair, a major event that connects students and graduates with the tech job market.
As is the case every year, the college lobby was filled with booths from a wide variety of companies. The 2014 event featured 24 booths offering innovative and entertaining ideas.
Games, a cotton candy machine, product displays, and even raffles were among the activities designed to capture students’ attention and raise awareness of their projects.
The students who attended the fair highlighted the importance of the event and emphasized the opportunity to interact with leading companies and apply for potential job openings.
“This is the first time I’ve signed up for job postings; I didn’t do it before because I was studying, and honestly, I think it’s great,” says Federico Cabrera, a sixth-semester student in the Bachelor of Science in Systems program.
Companies also viewed the event favorably, as they were able to gather between 100 and 300 contacts with technology-specific profiles in a single day.
Ana Laura Trias, head of Graduate Coordination and Career Services at the School of Engineering, highlighted the fair’s year-over-year growth. ““This year, the Fair saw an explosive interest from companies in participating, and it also received recognition from the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security,” she added, “which undoubtedly establishes the event’s standing and confirms that it is highly valued.”
The company that earned recognition from the students and was voted the best booth was Fábricas Nacionales de Cervezas.
Meanwhile, Isbel, which engaged in active communication with visitors to its booth throughout the day, also received high ratings and positive feedback from the students.
The awards ceremony brought a great event to a close, leaving the entire audience motivated and excited about the ideas and opportunities presented by each company.
