Author of over fifty academic papers. His area of academic research is the use of new information technologies in educational systems. He writes a regular column for the El País newspaper of Montevideo. His academic specialty is the integration of new technologies in education systems.
He participated in 1997 and 1998 at the international meetings of Latin-American Rectors, organized by Harvard Graduate School of Education and in 2008 UNESCO World Conference on Higher Education as representative of the private universities, nominated by the Uruguayan government.
He was Reuters Fellow at St Antony´s College - Oxford in 1986 and 1987 and British Council Fellow at Keble College - Oxford in 1990 and 1991.
